Formerly Sweetie Pie
I recently adopted a dog, Sweetie Pie (now Rosie) from your rescue group.
I am writing to let you know how very impressed and happy I have been with your group and the whole adoption experience. I know whereof I speak, having volunteered in two different animal shelters (Durham APS and Paws4Ever in Mebane) for a total of over 45 years. I found Sweetie Pie on your web site and sent in several questions - which were answered immediately. That was pretty amazing in itself. I went to an adoptathon in Wake Forest to meet her and her foster mother Barbara Walsh - a really incredible foster parent in my opinion. Considering this dog's terrible background, she had done wonders with her in the past 5 months.
The following day she brought the dog ( an hour's drive one way ) to meet our resident dog and investigate our home situation. All of this went very well. My husband and I decided to adopt but needed another week to prepare. We had a special situation with another resident dog who was 15 and dying from cancer and he was to be euthanized that week. Barbara agreed to keep Sweetie Pie another week and bring her back the following weekend. She literally cried when she left her with us. She brought her treats, her toys, her special blanket, her food, and has been a wealth of information ever since. We email almost every day. Every adopter should be so fortunate as to have someone like Barbara to stay in contact with who knows all the special needs and quirks of a new family member.
I just want to let you know I think you have a great organization and I wish you the very best. If any of your potential adopters ever need a reference, please have them email me. And most of all, Rosie is a fabulous dog. We are very happy with her.
